What this site collects

Visit counts

Cloudflare, which hosts the site, adds its Web Analytics script to each page. It reports the page you viewed, the site that sent you, and how quickly the page loaded. We see totals by page, referrer, country and device type, never a record of a person.

Cloudflare says it uses no client-side state, like cookies or localStorage, for this, and doesn’t track visitors over time by IP address, user agent or any other fixed attribute. Its own account of how that works.

No cookies

oara.ai sets no cookies. If Cloudflare ever has to challenge a connection it treats as suspicious, it can set a security cookie of its own; we don’t read it.

Hosting

Cloudflare serves every page. Like any host, it handles your IP address to deliver the site and to keep attacks off it, under its own privacy policy. We run no servers for the site and keep no logs of visits.

GitHub

Two things on the site talk to GitHub from your browser. The Get Beacon buttons, on the home page and on /beacon, ask GitHub’s public API for the latest Beacon release; your browser keeps that answer in its session storage for ten minutes, so a reload doesn’t ask again. And every download comes from GitHub. GitHub sees those requests, including your IP address, under GitHub’s privacy statement.

Everything else

Apart from Cloudflare’s script and the GitHub requests above, everything the pages load (fonts, images, scripts) comes from oara.ai itself. Nothing loads from Google or an advertising network.

If you write to [email protected], we use your address and message to reply, and for nothing else.

Our software

This page is about the website. Prometheus runs on hardware you own and has no telemetry upload, no analytics and no update check; what leaves your machine, and when, is on the Prometheus page. Beacon connects to the daemon you pair it with, and checks GitHub’s public releases feed for updates.
